Liz Cohn originated and directed a 2-year mail–art collaboration that culminated in the body of work, "Playing with a Full Deck." It involves 200 artists who mingled their mediums upon the surfaces of over 1573 individual playing cards. The resulting collection, which is believed to be the world’s largest, will be showing at 12x16 Gallery May 3-27, 2012.

Liz comments, “‘Playing with a Full Deck’ allowed me to support and connect with hundreds of artists. I never imagined it would become so astoundingly successful and garner such accolades. The inaugural exhibition at Cannon Beach Gallery was a buzz worthy crowd pleaser. People love this project and can spend hours looking at the individual pieces.”

Liz, a Portland artist, is a member of 12x16 gallery. She makes collage, assemblage and occasionally slings paint around. She studied at Whitman College, Portland State University, and PNCA. Collage by Liz Cohn is also featured in the book ‘Masters: Collage, major works by leading artists’ (Lark books, 2010).

Nicholas Knapton's latest body of work was painted in two different studios. One in Portland, Oregon at The North Coast Seed Building and the other at the Berolina Margarine Factory in Berlin, Germany where he has been living for the last 6 months.

"Both studios are exciting places to work offering surprisingly similar environments. The din of the trains going by, large factory settings, lots of different artists working on many different types of projects, the occasional open studio gala and of course, the solitude for one’s own work are strangely comparable. The work is also similar. It is as if the environment I work in has nothing to do with the imagery that comes out of it. I will leave the viewer to decipher which work belongs to which studio."
